How Your School Can Become Involved

While we believe a combination of all of the following three levels of participation creates the most successful Litter Free Campus, we encourage you to participate at the level of your choice.

1. The Administrative Level. School Administration is asked to increase public awareness about decreasing litter and to help promote participation by students, parents and faculty. We have supplied information on how to hold litter free events and reduce campus litter.

2. The Educational Level. Educational activities and lesson plans that reinforce the litter free message can be integrated into the current curriculum for all ages.  K-12 activities are available that have undergone the benchmarks and standards review.

3. The Student Initiative Level. High school students are given materials to begin their own student-run branch of Keep Iowa Beautiful. Club members become responsible for maintaining their Litter Free Campus, contributing to community beautification, and creating campus and community awareness about environmental issues. This level assists in fulfilling High School community service requirements and preparing students for proactive involvement in both college and the professional field.
