The state income tax checkoff program benefiting Keep Iowa Beautiful ended last tax year.

Iowans donated $57,643 in 2001, $63,054 in 2002, $67,423 in 2003, $58,103 in 2004, $52,105 in 2005, $52,039 in 2006 and $26,385 in 2007 (the total amount was split with the Iowa Firefighters Association) to the Keep Iowa Beautiful income tax checkoff program. These donations were tax-deductible. Specifically, the funds that resulted from the checkoff were distributed in the following manner:

• Seventy percent was dedicated toward community beautification projects.
• Thirty percent was invested in statewide Keep Iowa Beautiful initiatives.
